LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Thunder Over Louisville attracts hundreds of thousands of people each year, and the city is planning to increase public transportation to accommodate the crowd.
This year, the fireworks show is Saturday, Apr. 23.
About 10,000 passengers are expected to take a TARC bus to the festivities, so the city encourages people to plan ahead and know their route number and stop locations.
Beginning Saturday at 3:30 p.m., more buses will be added to popular routes serving downtown. Note that police barricades and heavy foot traffic during the event may cause delays.
Residents of southern Indiana using a TARC bus to get to Thunder should be aware those buses will not make return trips across the river after the show due to the closure of the Clark Memorial (2nd Street) Bridge.
There will be five stops for people to board buses downtown after the fireworks show is over. TARC will operate until 11 p.m. at those stops.
