Meriwether Ave. recycling center reopens after fire

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Operations have returned to normal at a Louisville Metro recycling facility after a fire last week.

The Metro Waste Reduction Plant at 600 Meriwether Avenue had been closed since the April 20 fire.

The plant disposes of tires, appliances, electronics and tree stumps. Those items provided plenty of fuel for the fire.

No one was hurt in the blaze, but Louisville firefighters battled hot spots more than 12 hours after the fire started.
