Family upset about possible plea deal for accused killer

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A family is upset that a plea deal is in the works for a man accused of killing their loved one.

Michael Felker was shot on Sky Blue Avenue back in August 2014 at his mother's Pleasure Ridge Park home. He later died at University Hospital.

Felker's mother's boyfriend, George Geary, was arrested in the case and originally charged with murder and placed on home incarceration. He claimed self-defense.

Now, he's expected to get credit for time served taking a charge of second-degree manslaughter.

Felker's sister is outraged.

"We would rather see it go to trial and possibly something bigger happen than what they are offering right now," Pamela Marney, Felker's sister, said.

Geary is scheduled to return to court May 17.
