LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A man who was chasing a suspected hit-and-run driver is facing charges after using his vehicle to stop the getaway.
Gary A. Lindsey, 49, of Louisville, is charged with assault, wanton endangerment and criminal mischief.
Louisville Metro police say things started with a hit-and run in the parking lot of the Family Dollar at 28th Street and Portland Avenue just after Noon on May 6. When the car involved left the lot, family members of the vehicle that was struck began chasing it.
Metro police say as the hit-and-run suspect was heading south on Louis Coleman, Jr. Blvd., Lindsey used his Dodge Ram pickup to run the vehicle off the road. The driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a light pole in the lot of Louisville Fire Department station at Coleman Blvd. and River Park Drive.
Police say Lindsey then pulled the driver from the car and began assaulting him. The driver suffered a laceration to his head.
