Man pleads not guilty in wife's stabbing death

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A man charged with the murder of his wife pleaded not guilty on Friday in court.

Wisam Fadhil, 32, made his first court appearance Friday after police say he stabbed his wife, Asmaa Mahdi, 29, to death on May 29.

According to police, the couple's 8-year-old son was in the room was in the room during the attack.

Fadhil was arrested in Harrison County, Indiana on May 30. He was transferred to Louisville Metro Department of Corrections on Thursday.

While in court on Friday Fadhil’s bond was raised from $250,000 to $500,000. He was also ordered not to have contact with his own children.

Fadhil’s next court day is set for later this month.
