LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The first day of summer meant the first day on the job for thousands of youth across Louisville.
Mayor Greg Fischer's SummerWorks program kicked off on Monday.
Nearly 3,000 people ages 16 to 21 will spend their summer breaks working at local companies, non-profits and city agencies.
"The type of skill building that goes on with a summer job is just something that is invaluable," Fischer said.
Most of the jobs will last about six weeks.
This is the 6th year for the SummerWorks program.
