KY awarded $300K in fight against Zika

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - As mosquito season approaches, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention awarded Kentucky with more than $300,000 to prepare for the Zika virus.

Kentucky's portion is a part of the $25 million being funded to protect the United States from the virus.

The money will be used through June of 2017.

The Zika virus is known to cause severe birth defects.
