LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Louisville Collegiate School celebrates a 100th anniversary this year. St. Stephen Church in Louisville celebrates a 90th anniversary this year. Southeast Christian Church prepares to celebrate a 55th anniversary next year.
All three of those institutions in our region have positively impacted thousands of people.
Another anniversary being marked this year is equally impactful - the 10th anniversary Metro United Way 2-1-1, the call that provides answers for human service needs, saving time and frustration.
Last year, more than 100,000 inquiries were made to 2-1-1. Answers came within 12 minutes on average, providing assistance for folks experiencing some bumps in their road. There were 8,000 difference types of requests.
In the relatively short life of 2-1-1, well over a half a million calls have been made. Later this year, you will be able to text 2-1-1 to get answers, and our Metro United Way is one of the few in the country that already utilizes a mobile app for 2-1-1.
Merging with the Center for Women and Families helped save $65,000 in call center expenses this year and will help save more than $100,000 next year.
Hats off to all involved in making this United Way resource a huge asset for our region, eliminating the need to navigate a maze of agencies.
