HILLVIEW, KY (WAVE) - A 28-year-old Louisville man is accused of leaving his two small children inside a hot car while doing business at a Bullitt County pawn shop.
According to an arrest report, Joseph D. Garland, 32, went to the Shepherdsville Pawn Shop in Hillview on the afternoon of Friday, Aug. 12 to sell some items, but he left his two daughters, ages 1 and 4 unattended in his vehicle with the windows rolled down. The temperature outside was 88 degrees.
Police said both children were covered in sweat, and the 1-year-old girl had wet hair.
Child Protective Services (CPS) was contacted, and the children's mother was notified. CPS scheduled a meeting with her.

Garland is charged with wanton endangerment and criminal abuse of a child 12 or under.
