CHICAGO (WLS/CNN) - Tragic news out of Chicago. The cousin of NBA star Dwyane Wade was shot and killed Friday afternoon.
Nykea Aldridge, 32, was walking on the street when two men approached another man and started shooting. She was caught in the crossfire. Bullets struck her in the head and arm.
The mother of four was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Wade himself was recently on an ESPN roundtable discussion about violence in Chicago.
His mother spoke about the tragedy while holding her sister, the victim's mother.
"Just sat up on a panel yesterday, The Undefeated, talking about the violence that's going on within our city of Chicago, never knowing that the next day we would be the ones that would be actually living and experiencing it," said Pastor Jolinda Wade, Wade's mother.
Investigators say Aldridge was an innocent bystander and not the intended target. Police are currently questioning two people in this case.
