2 students arrested at Iroquois High School after loaded gun found in backpack

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - For the fourth time in about a week, a gun was found at a JCPS school Wednesday.

Acting on a tip from a student, JCPS officials found a loaded handgun in a backpack belonging to another student at Iroquois High School.

"LMPD was notified and responded swiftly," JCPS spokeswoman Allison Gardner said in a statement Wednesday, adding that two male students were arrested and will be disciplined per JCPS student codes. Both of the students are juveniles.

One student took the gun to school in his car, and the other took it inside the school, Gardner said. She also said parents were notified of the incident.

Last week, two students at Meyzeek Middle School were disciplined for allegedly taking BB guns to school. The next day, a gun was found on the playground at Norton Elementary School, and a student at Noe Middle School was charged after allegedly taking two loaded guns to school.
