LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - One year ago a 50-year-old mother of two was found dead in a trash can in the Shawnee neighborhood.

So far, though, there are few answers in the case.

The family and friends of Monica White hold onto hope that her killer will be caught.

White was found dead inside a trash can at the 800 block of South 40th Street.

The coroner has still not released a cause of death, but police said they are investigating the case as a homicide.

Sunday the family and friends created a makeshift memorial near the site where White was found and released balloons in her honor.

They called for answers and said they want to make sure this doesn't become a cold case.

"I pray each and every day," said White's son, Anthony. "I hope the detectives do their job. I know they got cases stacking on cases right now, but I just hope I get blessed with some answers. All I want is answers."

If you have any information on the case, you're urged to call the Louisville Metro Police Department's Anonymous Tip Line at 574-LMPD.
