KNOX CO., IN (WFIE) -

The former director of the Knox County Solid Waste District is accused of embezzling tens of thousands of dollars.

According to Indiana State Police, an investigation began in October 2015 after board members noticed missing funds from the waste district's accounts.

ISP says 51-year-old Tracy Clinkenbeard, of Vincennes, was the director and responsible for all financial matters.

Troopers say an ISP investigation and an audit of the waste district's financial records by the Indiana State Board of Accounts revealed that Clinkenbeard had allegedly embezzled more than $100,000 between 2010 and 2015 without permission and for her personal gain.

Clinkenbeard was arrested Monday at her home and taken to the Knox County Jail.

She is currently being held on a $15,000 cash.
