Former LMPD officer charged with sexual abuse, sodomy

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – A former Louisville Metro Police Department officer is facing charges after he allegedly sexually abused a young girl.

Sean Jackman, 46, was taken into custody on Thursday. According to an arrest slip, Jackman sexually abused the victim from 2001, when she was 10 years old, to 2005.

Jackman retired in December of 2015 as a lieutenant with the LMPD Viper Unit.

His career began in 1992 and his file has a long list of commendations for arresting suspected robbers, rapists and murderers. In all, the list shows 34 commendations and no disciplinary action.

Jackman is charged with two counts of sexual abuse and two counts of sodomy.

Friday morning, he was brought into an empty courtroom to be arraigned.

Jackman's bond was set at 10 percent of $25,000.
