FLOYDS KNOBS, IN (WAVE) - A debate has been scheduled between two candidates running for Indiana's Ninth Congressional district seat.

Duke Energy is sponsoring the debate that will be hosted by Leadership Southern Indiana on Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Floyd Central High School. WAVE 3 News and News and Tribune are the media partners.

Democrat Shelli Yoder and Republican Trey Hollingsworth are vying to replace Todd Young, who is running for the U.S. Senate.

The hour-long debate will be moderated by WAVE 3 News anchor Scott Reynolds and streamed live on WAVE3.com.

"We're educating the community," LSI executive director Mark Eddy told News and Tribune. "We felt like this is a great opportunity, whether they can actually show up [or] they can see a live stream."

Libertarian candidate Russell Brooksband was not invited to participate in the debate. News and Tribune reported that decision was made by the LSI's debate committee.
