LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Watson Memorial Baptist Church hopes Louisville youths will become a catalysts for change during a violent year in the city.
Saturday the church hosted a conference entitled, "Catalyst for Change," for 65 middle and high school-aged students.
The goal was to introduce students to skills they can use beyond the classroom, like resume writing, interviewing skills and peaceful problem-solving.
"They can start the change and start the movement," Krystal Rice, the event coordinator, said. "They will create a difference in the way they act, they speak and how things are going on in the community. They can start and be the catalyst that makes this community better."
Church members say after Saturday's success; they plan to have a yearly "Catalyst for Change" conference.
