LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - We Pass the Cash each Wednesday with the hope of making a difference for someone in the midst of a financial struggle. We never know who it will be or how much help we will be. This week we hope we are the little rock tossed in the pond that will cause a ripple effect for our family in need.

It was a nomination form from and Ali Kannenberg that took us to the eastern edge of the city. Ali wanted to help her friend Amber.
"She has a 5-year-old daughter named Olivia," Ali said.

In many ways Olivia is a typical 5-year-old little girl.

"Her favorite thing in the world to do is swim. She's a little mermaid. She loves going to the YMCA and just playing with other kids," Ali said.

But Olivia suffered a stroke while in her mother's womb.

"It caused half her brain not to develop," Ali said. "She has cerebral palsy. She can't use her right arm. She's blind."

Regardless of all that Olivia has to battle she loves life and her parents love her. They do their best to help her live to the fullest, but as she gets older and heavier it gets harder. They need a handicap accessible van.

"The van is crucial to her every day quality of life," Ali said.

Money for the van is crucial too so WAVE 3 News starts with $300, then another anonymous $100.
With $400 in hand we went to find Amber and Olivia.

"I wanted to Pass the Cash to you," Ali told Amber. "I know that you needed it for Olivia."

Amber is collecting every penny, dime and dollar to reach their goal of a van for Olivia.

"That's awesome thank you," Amber said. "She has a lot of doctors appointments, therapy. We hate to go anywhere and not take her. She loves to go swimming and go to the grocery store with us."

Olivia loves to do what most kids love to do - have fun, have friends and enjoy her family. But it is hard to do without a handicap accessible van.

"She is the happiest kid ever," Amber said.
