LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - More superlatives to celebrate this week:
Louisville's health department is now nationally accredited and ranks in the top five percent nationally out of nearly 3,000 departments in the country.
The Old Louisville neighborhood was recognized as one of five great neighborhoods nationally. Old Louisville is home to the St. James Art Show, Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, Jazz in Central Park, the Garvin Gates Blues Festival, SpringFest, the Old Louisville LIVE concerts, and the largest collection of Victorian Mansions in the country.
Ground was broken on yet another new hotel in the city - the 23rd being built at the moment.
Ground was also broken for the Rabbit Hole Distillery in the NuLu neighborhood - another showcase for downtown Louisville and another boost for the growing bourbon industry in the Commonwealth that now employs more than 16,000 people and expects to surpass the million mark in visitors next year to the bourbon trail.
And the University of Louisville Athletics Department now says the football stadium expansion will be complete in time for the 2018 season and the Field Level Suites and Premium Boxes are sold out.
Taking time to reflect on what is going well in our region helps deflect the negatives we are hearing about our nation as a whole this election season.
