LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Two teenagers were arrested after trying to carjack two University of Louisville students at gunpoint. They were arrested in a stolen car Thursday night because of a detailed description given to police by the students.
“There's a little part right here where the gun actually hit,” Tracy Manalo said.

Manalo walked WAVE 3 News through the steps of the attempted carjacking.

“That's where the guy came up. That's where the butt of his gun hit like that. It was just crazy for me,” Manalo said.

Manalo is a senior at UofL. He and his girlfriend were inside his car in the parking lot of the Clubhouse Apartments, when two teens tried to carjack them.

“All of this right here, all of this black stuff right here, is after the fact,” Manalo said. “The cops had taken fingerprints because the guy had grabbed this part of the window.”
Manalo said he and his girlfriend were sitting in his vehicle with the engine running when they heard someone yell. Two males showed up on both sides of the car. When one man failed to smash in the window, both suspects tried to pull the doors open. However, they were locked.
“At the same time, I was trying to figure out how to pull my gear in drive and then we just drove off from there,” Manalo said.

The two students called 911 when they got away. They were able to give a detailed description of the suspects to campus police. Their descriptions seemed to match two men picked up by LMPD - who were found driving a stolen car.

“We waited maybe it was like an hour or two. It turns out those were the same guys that had done that to us,” Manalo said.
Thankful no one was hurt.

Manalo has a message to fellow students, “Just be aware of your surroundings.”
UofL police are using this case to remind to students to contact them at if they see any suspicious activity in or around campus.
