Robbery suspect accused of beating man with baseball bat, gun

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Louisville man is accused in a violent robbery that happened in September.

According to an arrest warrant, Jacob Lee McCullum, 21, and two other people took items, including a $10,000 pickup truck, phone, clothing and keys, by force using a baseball bat and a handgun.

The alleged incident happened September 9.

Police said McCullum and the other two suspects invited the victim to a party at a vacant house. When the victim arrived, McCullum allegedly took out a handgun and began hitting him with it. McCullum then pulled out the bat and hit the victim in the head, chest and back, the victim told police. The suspects then stole the items and got away in the victim's 2006 Ford Ranger.

The victim went to a neighboring property and sought help getting to a hospital. He suffered serious injuries and required 30 staples in his head.

The victim's pickup truck was later recovered.

Police said the suspects are known to the victim.

McCullum is charged with first-degree assault and first-degree robbery.

The status of the other two suspects is unknown.
