Police asking for tips in Old Louisville homicide

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A shooting victim found in the parking lot of an Old Louisville bank became Louisville's 93rd homicide victim of the year Tuesday morning when he died at University of Louisville Hospital.

Louisville Metro Police Department spokesman Dwight Mitchell said the victim is believed to be in his 40s. He was found outside the PNC Bank at 4th and Oak Streets.

The shooting was reported at 6:42 a.m.

Shirley Brooks lives nearby and heard the gunfire. "It's not getting safe anymore," Brooks said. "It's scary."

No one is in custody. At this time a motive and the victim's name has not been released.

"Any information we can get to bring closure to this would be incumbent on a person who knows that type of information to come forward," said LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell.  "It makes our community safer when this happens and it brings people to justice who need to be brought to justice."
