HODGENVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The principal of LaRue County High School has been fired effective immediately following his arrest on child pornography charges, LaRue County Schools superintendent Sam Sanders announced Tuesday morning.

Stephen Kyle Goodlett, 36, of Elizabethtown, is charged with 60 counts of possession and three counts of distribution of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor. Each charge is punishable by one to five years in prison. Kentucky State Police said Friday that additional charges are expected to be filed in the case. Goodlett was arrested on October 13.

"This is an unprecedented situation, and we feel the best thing for our school district is to end Mr. Goodlett's employment and move forward," Sanders said in a written statement on Tuesday.

Assistant principal Chris Price will continue to fulfill the principal duties at LaRue County High School. In addition, Denise Skaggs, the district's instructional supervisor and former principal at LaRue County Intermediate School, has been temporarily assigned to the high school's administration team.

Sanders said he would soon schedule a meeting with the high school's site-based decision-making council to determine next steps.
