1 motorcyclist killed, 2 others injured in 3-vehicle collision

NEW ALBANY, IN (WAVE) - One motorcyclist was killed and two others were injured in a three-vehicle collision Monday afternoon in New Albany.

According to the Combined Accident Reconstruction Team, a Honda motorcycle driven by Anthony Halak, 33, and New Albany, and a Suzuki motorcycle driven by Clayton Carmack, 28, of Standford, KY, were traveling north on West Street about 3:40 p.m. Monday. A Chevrolet Avalanche driven by James Padgett, 82, of New Albany, was turning left onto West Street from Sherely Street. Halak's motorcycle hit the Avalanche at a high rate of speed.

Authorities said Halak and his passenger, Kim Hertog, 28, of New Albany, were thrown from the motorcycle. Halak was killed and Hertog suffered serious injuries.

Carmack then collided with the truck and Halak's motorcycle. He suffered minor injuries.
