LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The merger of two Louisville non-profit organizations aims to improve the lives of adults with developmental disabilities.

Day Spring and Community Living have combined to become Day Spring Community Living.

Company leaders said by offering a broader range of service options, the merged organization will be able to better help the community.

"We discovered we had a shared mission and we could, by merging, be stronger and more able to fulfill our missions," Day Spring Community Living CEO Sarah Trester said. "By merging, we will be able to serve more people, we will be able to provide a broader range of services to the people we serve, and we will be able to operate more efficiently, which will position us for sustainability well into the future."

More than 2,000 people in Kentucky are waiting to get into a program like Day Spring Community Living.
