LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The presidential election is on Nov. 8, but many voters have already picked their candidate.

Butler High senior Bryce Jones is getting ready to cast a vote for the very first time.

“We have a say whether some people say it or not. No vote is too small,” Jones said.

Jones has decided to vote for Donald Trump.

“I like his immigration policies that he's come up with and I like how he's investing. He's going to invest in the military,” Jones said.

Jones was just one of more than 100 students who packed Roosters Wednesday night for the third and final presidential debate. He sat alongside a few other classmates that will be voting for the first time as well.

Ethan Cash is supporting Hillary Clinton.

“It feels good making history and making a difference,” Cash said.

Jonathan Joseph teaches political science at Butler High School. He gave students a homework pass for coming to watch the debate.

“Look if I can give up a homework pass for them to get more involved and get engaged in the election, then let me give five, well I won't really give five,” Joseph said.  “I just find that this election is so important for these kids.”

After watching the debates, some students have been inspired to take this experience beyond their history class.

“I'm pretty excited I may run for office one day and I think it would be really cool,” one student said.
