Daniel Ellis’ wife, Katie Ellis, said, "Life didn't deal me a very good hand last November, but it's gone on and it's been very positive. Moving forward I know I have the support of an entire town and that's so special."

On Friday, Katie Ellis and their 4-year-old son Luke stood along the newly named Officer Daniel Ellis Memorial Highway as his fellow police officers paid their respects.

On Sunday every officer will wear a shirt with Daniel Ellis' badge number for the annual flag football game against the Richmond Fire Department.
