Shelby County deputies arrived at the scene. KSP said one of the deputies encountered a Dalzell with a crowbar in his hands. Dalzell refused to comply with the deputy's commands to drop his weapon, KSP said. Dalzell was shot and later pronounced dead at the scene by the Shelby County Coroner.

Courtney Eggen, 27, Steven Mathus, 29, and Chastity Heitzman, 27, were arrested by KSP, suspected of being involved in the burglaries at the church.
