TUCSON, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

We have new information about a fatal crash in Tucson ended with a car flipped upside down on the roof of a home.

Tucson police say the driver was killed. There was one resident inside the home, but that person was not harmed.

The Tucson Fire Department got a call just after 7 p.m. Saturday about reports of a vehicle that had crashed into a residence.

Upon arrival, officers and firefighters located a vehicle on the roof of the residence.

Tucson Fire used a ladder truck to reach the driver. However, it was quickly determined the driver had died.

Detectives from the Tucson Police Department's Traffic Investigations Unit responded to the scene to continue the investigation.

They were able to determine that the vehicle "had been traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crossed over the westbound lane of travel," according to Tucson police.

"The vehicle then struck a utility pole and entered a concrete lined arroyo, launching the vehicle over a residential wall and onto the roof of a home," a police statement continued.

Tucson Fire personnel worked with Barnett's Towing services and were able to lift the vehicle off of the roof and place it on the ground.

City of Tucson Building Inspectors responded to assess the structural damage to the residence.

Traffic Detectives are still trying to positively identify the deceased driver. They believe they know who he is, but are only releasing that he is an adult male until they can confirm his identity.

It is unknown at this time if impairment was a factor in the collision.
