A couple from California paid off more than $30,000 worth of layaway bills at a Mid-South Walmart.

Walmart confirmed Steve and Samantha Bryson sent a check worth $30,276 and paid off the entire layaway bill at the Walmart located on Elvis Presley Boulevard.

The Brysons said they were inspired by a report they saw on the news--a report similar to this.

Steve is originally from Memphis, so he and his wife mapped Walmarts in Memphis and decided which area they thought the money would serve the greatest need.

The manager of the store in Whitehaven told them that $30,276 would pay off all layaways at the store, so the couple sent a check.

Walmart said the donation wiped clean bills pending for 135 families.

"Our phones have been blowing up the last two hours. We must have over 100 messages already from people that we don't know. There've been a few who actually said they were the recipients," Bryson said. "A young lady sent us a picture of her and her son a little while ago and you know that's what it's really all about."
