Man who flipped SUV on I-71 confesses to 3 robberies

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The man who flipped his SUV on Interstate 71 during a police pursuit on Monday is now facing charges for several robberies.

Hunter Thompson, 22, crashed in the median of I-71 as he tried to get away from officers following a robbery at the U.S. Bank branch on Whittington Parkway.

WAVE 3 News helicopter Air 3 was above the scene as Thompson was pulled from the SUV and taken into custody.

An arrest report for Thompson states he admitted to the U.S. Bank robbery, as well as two others on Sunday.

Thompson is believed to have pulled out a knife at the Rafferty's restaurant on Springhurst Boulevard, demanding money. Police said took off without receiving any cash.

A similar situation unfolded at Feeder's Supply on Brownsboro Road. Thompson did get away with money from that robbery and fled in a red SUV, according to the report.
