GIBSON CO., IN (WFIE) -

A section of State Route 65 in Gibson County, near the Mount Olympus community, began a three-month-long closure on Monday.

According to officials, this shut down is because they are replacing the bridge on State Road 65, they say the detour is only a couple of minutes out of the way. This section will remain closed until crews replace the deck of the bridge spanning Branch Ford Ditch.

One nearby resident expressed concerns for how the school buses will be affected by the road closure.

"There's a little girl that live down here that rides bus 54 and there is another bus 26," explained resident Charlotte Scholtz "The school buses to me, I think is pretty much going to be the ones besides all the workers that work at Toyota."

Depending upon weather conditions, the bridge is scheduled to reopen by the end of June. INDOT officials say you can get around the construction by using State Route 56, U.S. Highway 41 and State Route 64.
