Out of 25,000 students, only 98 were chosen.

Hernandez left on Friday for Washington D-C, for the week long trip. The program focuses on the structure and function of federal government. Students act as senators while they learn the proper method of handling bills, according to U.S. Senate rules. Participation in the political process is highlighted throughout the week, including the organization of party conventions and nominating and electing a president and vice president.

In our Nation's Capitol Hernandez will get to tour the White House and meet with Kentucky's elected officials.

Hernandez said he hopes to have a career in politics one day.
