LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – Two additional arrests have been made following a shooting at Waterfront Park.

Tajuan McDowell, 18, and Thomas Nelson, 18, were charged in connection to the April 12 shooting. Louisville Metro Police Department spokeswoman Alicia Smiley said the shooting happened on the Great Lawn, but a scene was active at the Ferris wheel at the foot of the Big Four Bridge.

Police said Nelson was the person who pulled the trigger.

The victim was shot in the left side of his abdomen, according to an arrest report. He was taken to an area hospital and was expected to be OK.

On April 19 when officers arrested Nelson and McDowell there was heroin in the backseat of car they were sitting in. There was also a gun in a pocket in front of Nelson, according to police.

Police said Nelson admitted to owning the gun.

Nelson and McDowell were booked into Louisville Metro Department of Corrections.

Nelson was charged with assault and possession of a controlled substance.

McDowell was charged with complicity assault and possession of a controlled substance.

A third person, Keion Page, was also charged in the shooting.

According to police reports, officers were in the open field west of the Sky Star Ferris Wheel when they spotted Page come out of the tree line and start running back toward the Ferris Wheel. Detectives told Page to stop several times, Page's arrest report states, but he kept on running.

After he was in custody Page claimed he was "shot at and hit and he shot back."

Detectives found Page's sweatshirt and white tank top hidden in the tree line he ran from; both had bullet holes in them. A handgun was also found there.

Page's arrest report states the handgun was confirmed stolen from the Bills Pawn Shop in Shepherdsville.

Page was charged with receiving stolen property and fleeing or evading police.
