NORTH YORKSHIRE, UK (RNN) – Police said their mobile safety cameras caught a motorist flipping police off on three different occasions in December. However, it was the illegal device he was using, that landed the man in jail.

While 67-year-old Timothy Hill, was giving the camera the middle finger, police noticed a laser jammer device on his vehicle. The laser jammer is a device intended to make your car invisible to police LiDAR enforcement technology.

According to North Yorkshire Police, they opened an investigation into Hill and he initially tried to hide his vehicle and destroy the device.

Hill eventually admitted to placing the device on his car after investigators paid him a house visit.

Police say they were unable to determine how fast Hill was going during his middle-finger crusade but were able to charge him with perverting the course of justice.

In a press release, North Yorkshire police gave tips to drivers who may think they are getting away with tricking traffic cameras.

Hill plead guilty and received an eight-month jail sentence and is banned from driving for one year.
