LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Brownsboro Hardware and Paint held a big celebration on Saturday morning. The owners celebrated twenty years of service.

The mayor was on hand to present a proclamation.

The store has been around since 1960, but the current owners started out with seven employees. Now they are up to two stores and forty employees.

"Well, shopping local is so important the community really responds well to our store. We're very service oriented. We always pride ourselves on having what people need," Brownsboro Hardware owner Jim Leher said.

Beyond providing home improvement materials, store owners said they are dedicated to community involvement.

Last year, Brownsboro Hardware gave back $50,000 to the Louisville Metro in charity work.

To celebrate their twenty years, the store had everything not already on sale twenty percent off, plus cokes and hot dogs for a quarter.
