While so many people eat solely to live, the Spanish live to eat. At La Bodega, Louisville's only true authentic tapas restaurant, the rich history of tapas dining is entwined with culture, tradition, and camaraderie. The tapas is a culinary staple with a tradition that began hundreds of years ago when Spaniards would meet at inns and restaurants to share in small bites of food, friendship and stories. Keeping this tradition alive is executive chef Miguel de la Torres (owner of Louisville's only authentic Spanish restaurant) who offers a selection of over 40 unique and authentic tapas ranging from traditional to creative.
As in Spain, where a tapas bar is open until the early hours of the morning, La Bodega provides a cozy night haven where Tapas frias (cold tapas), tapas calientes (hot tapas) and montaditos (traditional sandwiches) and wonderful libations can be shared with friends. On any given excursion to La Bodega you will be presented with a host of savory tapas such as the Pollo en Escabeche (chicken in escabeche sauce), gambas al ajillo (shrimp sauteed in olive oil and garlic), and jamon serrano (delicate cured Spanish ham). And in traditional Spanish manner, the tapas must be accompanied with any of a number of libations. The homemade sangria is a natural choice, but don?t limit yourself to that alone. A list of unique beverages is available to add to the total tapas experience.
Owners Miguel and Maggie de la Torres have brought the beauty of Spanish dining to enchanted diners for years with De la Torres. And now rejoice "amante de alimento", for la Bodega brings another taste of Spain with all of its rich traditions to Louisville.
