(SOMERSET, Ky.) -- A two-vehicle collision in Pulaski County left three people dead and three others injured, the sheriff said.
Karen Cogdill, 40, Jerry Lee Calhoun Jr., 4, and Sarena Leeann Calhoun, 2, all of Burnside were killed in the crash Sunday afternoon, three miles south of Somerset, Sheriff Todd Wood said. The children were siblings in the care of Cogdill, Wood said.
A 2005 Mazda crossed the center line of Kentucky 1247 and collided with Cogdill's 1995 Ford, the sheriff's report said.
Karen Cogdill, a friend of the Calhoun family, and Jerry Lee Calhoun Jr. died at the scene, Pulaski County Deputy Coroner Jim McWhorter said. Sarena Calhoun died at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, he said.
Two other passengers -- Floyd Taylor, 18, and a 15-year-old male, both of Somerset -- were treated for injuries at the same hospital.
The driver of the Mazda, 19-year-old Jessica Bowling of Somerset, also was treated at the hospital.
Deputies were still investigating the accident on Monday, Wood said.
