Republic Bank We CARE Awards Seek Local Area Businesses who Display Exemplary Community Service

WAVE-TV partners with Republic Bank again to showcase winners

LOUISVILLE - Republic Bank & Trust Company announced on March 12 the call for nominations for the third annual Republic Bank We CARE Awards.  These awards are open to all companies in Louisville, Southern Indiana, Shelbyville and Elizabethtown who are doing their part to care for the community.

Businesses will be judged on how they encourage employees to become involved in volunteer activities either during or after work hours such as tutoring, mentoring, or coaching a youth sports activity.  Also, organizations will be evaluated on how they support community-based initiatives through philanthropic efforts such as fundraising and neighborhood assistance.

The second Annual Republic Bank We CARE Awards recipients last year were Mountjoy & Bressler (small business category); Whole Foods (medium business category); and GE Consumer & Industrial (large business category).

"While many local businesses provide jobs and municipal tax dollars for their communities, few stand out representing their owners' progressive, positive, giving attitudes about where they do business and how they can do even more within their neighborhoods and community at large," said Steve Trager, Chairman and CEO of Republic Bank & Trust Company.  "Republic Bank will see to it that they are visible and appreciated with the bestowing of the second annual We CARE Award. We're delighted that WAVE-TV will partner with us again to feature these deserving community businesses."

"When we are all motivated to help others in our community it makes us all better," said Steve Langford, Vice President and General Manager of WAVE-TV.  "WAVE is proud to renew our partnership with Republic Bank for this second year of We CARE Awards.  Knowing the kind of community commitment being made by thousands of area businesses, we join Republic in this outstanding opportunity to give those companies the recognition and the attention they deserve."

Nominations will be accepted from anyone who feels a company meets the We CARE criteria, including employees within the company or others who have been benefited from the company's assistance.

Nominated companies will be grouped in three categories, by size of business (small 1-25; medium 26 - 125; and large 126 and above).  One award will be given in each category.  Winning companies will be featured on WAVE-TV and will receive a unique glass award at a special ceremony this fall.

Nominations are due by May 18, 2007.  Forms are available online at or by contacting Allison Pogue at or (502) 560-8696.
