About Dr. C. Steven Smith

Raised in a family of six on a farm in Western Kentucky, I have a special interest in botany and keeping animals together with the families who love them.  Highly credentialed, I am board certified in both pediatrics and adult and pediatric allergy, asthma, and immunology.  I have a master's degree in microbiology and immunology with research emphasis on the mechanisms of the causes of asthma.  I have been inducted as a Fellow in the Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. I help families control their allergies, many of which threaten relationships with their pets.  I am founder of AllerSmith Research Labs.  I am inventor and developer of drug-free, allergy control products for pets, insects, mold, and indoor plants - even Christmas tree allergies!  My research in environmental allergy control has been ongoing since 1979.

I help individuals with food allergies, skin contact allergies, sinus infections, and exercise-induced asthma.  Serving as the team referral physician specialist in asthma and allergy for the University Of Louisville Athletic Department, I have extensive experience in sports respiratory medicine.  I have been a consulting physician for the Louisville Zoo since 1978 assisting the zoo Veterinarians with care of the exotic animals with allergies and other medical problems.

Emphasizing quality over quantity, the practice cares for a limited number of patients.  My staff personally answers all calls, listens, and is empathetic to your individual needs.  High standards of care are maintained even when economics might otherwise threaten to curtail quality.  In short, we are dedicated to fostering the personal care and trust that the current medical economic climate often tends to erode.

Patient's who choose Accredited Asthma and Allergy Care, PSC, can expect the best in all aspects of their allergy care.  I love investigative challenges and the detective work they require!  Our practice offers in-depth evaluations for both food and inhalant allergy illnesses, plus patch skin tests for those patients who require evaluation for skin contact allergy problems.  The staff is the most highly educated and highly trained in the Kentuckiana area, dedicated to recapturing the spirit and foundation of medicine and the patient-physician covenant.

My sister, Mary Jane Smith, MSN, FNP (with training emphasis on asthma) joined the practice in 2003.  Our partnership further strengthens the "family care" philosophy of my medical practice.

I have two grown children, Emily White and Toby Smith.  I live in Louisville with wife Kim and the young son Charlie.  In my spare time I enjoy gardening, fishing, golf, photography, and listening to mystery books on tape.
