(LOUISVILLE) -- Police say dark and wet conditions may have played a role in a morning collision that left a bicyclist dead near Cherokee Park.
It happened in the intersection of Cherokee Road and Grinstead Drive. Around 7:20 am, police received a report that a bicyclist traveling east on Grinstead collided with a westbound Volvo.
The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and there did not appear to be any injuries to the driver.
According to preliminary police reports, the bicyclist had the right of way and was wearing a helmet but not wearing reflective gear. Police say they are ruling out alcohol as a factor.
"It doesn't appear to be any drugs or alcohol involved however we will have to await toxicology reports. But at this point we don't anticipate charges against the driver," said LMPD spokesperson Alicia Smiley.
