LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - After several days of pressure by WAVE 3, the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services has done a 180 degree turn on a controversial move.

State leaders had planned to save money by significantly cutting the security force at office buildings housing Child Protective Services. The L&N Building at 908 W. Broadway was going to lose 9 of its 11 security guards starting Friday, but not anymore.

Social workers told us they'd fear for their safety once the security guards were gone. They deal with people in emotional and volatile family situations and the threat of violence is not uncommon.

Again after several reports by WAVE 3 detailing the fear and outrage by the workers, state leaders changed their mind.
