LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - An electrical worker on a crew working to restore power died on the job Friday night. It happened around 8:15 p.m. in the 6600 block of Huff Lane off Lees Lane in the Cane Run Road area.

Neighbors on Huff Lane were devastated, because they say they were so thankful to see the workers out on their street working to restore power.

Louisville Metro Police tell us the worker was a 28-year-old man here working with a contractor out of Florida. He was up in a cherry picker when something went horribly wrong.

Louisville Metro EMS crews tried to revive him while taking him to Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

"It's sad thing like I said. Someone would come up here to help needy people and to lose your life, I mean ... I don't know, I don't know it's a bad week it seems like it's going from bad to worse," said Jennifer Dale, a resident of Huff Lane.

Investigators from LMPD, LG&E and OSHA are working to figure out just what happened. A Metro Police spokesperson tells WAVE 3 they will know more after an autopsy is performed.

This is the second workplace related accident involving LG&E in two days. Thursday afternoon, a worker was killed at the LG&E Trimble County Generating Plant outside Bedford, KY when a steel beam fell.
