LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - UofL women’s head basketball coach Jeff Walz was honored before the Cards home opener on Monday for his 300th victory, which came in the season opener against Western Kentucky. He was more focused on what the school did not recognize. The 2018 Final Four team. A new banner was not unveiled in the KFC Yum! Center.
“I know it’s been discussed, possibly on Thursday, I haven’t heard a confirmation for sure yet, you know I’ll take part of the blame for that because I’ve asked for the banners to be kind of moved, because the spot they’re in right now, it’s just terrible,” Walz said. “When the game lights are off ‚they look great, they really do, because I’ve been in here before the game lights turn on and as soon as the lights come on, you can’t see them because of the glare of the lights. So I’m waiting to find out where we’re hoping to put banners, you know I’ve made suggestions. I just think they’d look great in the north end, just with the men’s, the same way we have them, you know Angel McCoughtry’s jersey is up there.”
The #5 Cards (6-0) host Nebraska (2-3) on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
