Louisville service says it’s the ‘Uber of home repair’

The Uber of home repairs

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – So many things are on demand in our society; things like food, shopping, a ride to wherever you need to be. If someone is having a home repair crisis, the last thing they want to do is wait days--or even hours--to get it fixed. Now they don’t have to, thanks to a new service called Homee. Makers of the Home on Demand app call it the Uber of home repair.

Homee is a GPS enabled, on-demand, property maintenance app. Users can request plumbing, electrical, HVAC and handyman services. Homee says they offer immediate access to experienced professionals who are ready to start your project in an average of 30 minutes.

Users can download the app on their smartphone, tell Homee what job needs to be done, and add notes and photos.

Then, they’re matched with a background-checked pro who can get started right away.

“We’re more than a software platform,” Homee co-founder Dave Theus said. “We also have a GC {general contractor} license. We are licensed in the trades, each one of these providers we meet with we vet. We look at their referral’s we background check we ID verify them and we check their insurance. Than we have insurance that sits on top of that plus a satisfaction guarantee we are that one stop shop.”

Homee has more than 4,000 technicians on its platform across the country and 50 here in Louisville and Southern Indiana. Homee launched in Louisville and Southern Indiana recently.

So, is it more expensive? Theus, says no.

“There is no minimum,” Theus said. “Then, you pay by the minute for only the time that person is at your house if they leave to go to the store like home depot to go pick up parts, the timer goes off you aren’t paying for that time they are not at your house.”

Handymen must have several years experience in your area to get a Homee gig. Many are experienced contractors, just trying to supplement their day job income.
