LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Eastbound lanes of a local interstate were closed for several hours after a tractor trailer caught fire during the Tuesday morning commute.

The incident happened on Interstate 64, near mile marker 36, at about 7:40 a.m. That’s near the Mt. Eden Road exit.

Fire crews used water hoses to put out the blaze, which left a portion of the interstate covered in ice. That required some additional work to de-ice the roadway.

Morning commuters were re-routed via Waddy.

It’s not clear how the fire started or whether anyone was injured.
