LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - The holiday season is a busy time. It’s also when, let’s face it, we want to look our best.
We’re attending parties with friends and family members, some of whom we only see once a year!
So for this week’s Five Questions, I went to local make-up guru Marie Fulkerson for some tips.
Marie grew up in the pageant world and learned a lot about make-up by doing it herself for competitions. She also developed a passion for it.
She now does make-up for weddings, special occasions, and training courses.
The southern Indiana resident learned many of her “tricks” with a private course with Kimberly Bosso, who works with the Jonas brothers, and actors Zak Efron and Marisa Tomei, among others. Since then she has traveled the country assisting clients, many of them competing in pageants.
She likes to say her signature look is “healthy, glowing skin.” Who doesn’t want that?
Marie has plans to open her own salon soon in both Louisville and southern Indiana.
Here are my five questions with Marie Fulkerson.
Hmmm... that is a tough question! If asked that by a client I’d tell them to put the one thing on that makes them feel their best, whatever that may be. For me personally, I’d say it’s a tie between my voluminous mascara and lipgloss!
Shimmer/Sparkle/Glitter -- I know most may say lashes, but they can be worn anytime, for any reason. However, glitter is just that little bit of something extra to make any holiday look pop!
Yes, a classic red lip I think is a must for the holidays. A blue-red lipstick works for the majority of skin tones. My personal fave for my clients is Ruby Woo from MAC. It is an ultra matte blue-red lipstick that creates a timeless classic holiday look!
Absolutely! When it pertains to skincare, I love a good exfoliator. It all starts with good skin care! If I were giving a gift of makeup to someone, it would be a beautiful universal lip color or a beautiful shadow palette.
I am a firm believer in exfoliation, especially during the winter months. I love Limelife for a soft exfoliation, or Rodan and Fields for times when my skin is a bit more flaky. After exfoliating, I sleep in either HA5 from SkinMedica, or a really good night cream of preference, a brightening. I also put a layer of Vasoline intensive lip treatment on my lips! Skincare is with a doubt the most important this time of year!
