LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - GE Appliances announced Tuesday it is donating 73 refrigerators and freezers to 46 Louisville-area food pantries.
The company also will donate $25,000 to Dare to Care to make sure those appliances are full this holiday season.
“Our purpose at GE Appliances is to enable happiness and well-being in every home,” GE Appliances Chief Operating Officer Melanie Cook said. “And unfortunately, not everybody even has a home. So for us to support our purpose statement in our community and support those in need, it’s really heartwarming.”
The effort started in November when Dare to Care informed GE that dozens of its affiliated agencies have been using old or broken equipment.
