LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A former Louisville detective at the center of four overturned murder convictions will appear back in court in April.
Mark Handy was indicted on one count of perjury and one count of tampering with evidence in September. In October, Handy went before a judge and some of the men he sent to prison, where he was arraigned. He entered not guilty pleas to charges of perjury of tampering with evidence in two of those cases.
On Wednesday, Handy’s lawyers were given a disc drive with discovery materials. They will have four months to review the material, and then appear back in court in April, 2019.
Handy himself will not have to be physically present at the court hearing.
