DEPUTY, IN (WAVE) - This holiday season is tough for a small Southern Indiana community. Earlier this week, the fire department in Deputy, Indiana caught fire destroying the building and the equipment inside. It’s a volunteer department that needs the community’s help.
Every agency that could get to Deputy, Indiana on December 17th did. When firefighters arrived, they tried to get out what they could but, the fire and smoke was too much.
They ended up losing three of their four trucks and equipment.
Days after the fire, the fire department shared photos and video of the damage. They started a fundraiser on social media to help them get back on their feet. While they try to raise money, surrounding agencies and people in the community have stepped up so they can continue to help others. From loaned trucks, to loaned space, so they can try to rebuild.
The German Township Fire Department posted Friday they donated a truck to the company.
Those interested in helping the Deputy Volunteer fire company, you can make a monetary donation to PO Box 135 Deputy In, 47230 made out to Deputy Volunteer Fire Department.
