LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) -There may have been some future Cards learning some new skills at a basketball camp run by former Cards coach David Padgett.
Padgett hosted a two-day basketball camp for kids at Springdale Christian Church starting Thursday. The focus of the training was individual improvement and personal growth, both on and off the court. Young players of a variety of age and skill levels were invited to participate.
The camp was just the beginning for Padgett, who has plans to keep teaching area kids.
“We’re going to get some individual instruction going on - small groups of four, things like that,” Padgett said. “Just trying to work with kids in the community and make them better and just improve them, stay around the game. It’s a chance for me to coach and do what I love and that’s teach.”
David Padgett is a former McDonald’s High School All American, unanimous All Big East 1st team selection and professional basketball player, according to his website. Most recently he acted as the head coach of the University of Louisville Men’s Basketball team.
Starting Monday, Padgett will be providing the individual instruction at the same location. It’s available to kids in third grade and up.
